It’s time to hit the open road! Road trips are great fun and a fantastic way to tour the country and take in some great sites. Before you pack up your car and head out on your adventure, make sure your car is ready for long distances.

 1.    Make sure any repairs are done. Major repairs should be done before your trip. If possible, get repairs done at least a month ahead so you can make sure your car is running properly. You want to make sure your car is running as well as it can before you get out into unknown territory.

 2.    Check fluids. Oil and coolant levels are especially important to check before you hit the road. Top off all fluids before you leave.

 3.    Make sure you have a spare tire. Check the spare and make sure it’s inflated and ready if you need it. While you’re in the truck checking the tire, make sure you have a jack too!

 4.    Check the glove box. You’ll want to make sure you have your car’s owner’s manual and registration. Don’t leave home without these!

 5.    Join AAA. Some type of roadside assistance service will come in handy if your car breaks down; you need a tow, or even a jump start. Plus, you’ll have peace of mind as you travel knowing there’s some kind of assistance if you need it.

A road trip can be a lot of fun, especially if you are prepared ahead of time. Take some time to get your car prepped before you hit the open road and you’ll be able to travel with the piece of mind knowing you will be safe. Just a few precautions will keep your trip memorable…for the right reasons. Enjoy the open road!
