The solo sailing attempts by two of the solo sailors is progressing well. Both are all of just 16 years and are attempting feats well beyond their years. One of these is Abby Sunderland from the USA with Jessica Watson being Australian. Abby is near the Cape Horn, which is the southernmost tip of the continent of South America. The winds can be strong and the waves quite choppy as she tries to get around this dangerous are which has been the bane of sailor for centuries. Her father has already come to Argentina and is likely to sail out with some local sailors to get a glimpse of his daughter as she makes her way from here towards Africa in a bid to be the youngest to circumnavigate the globe.

Jessica Watson from Australia is the competitor to Abby’s attempt and she has now left Africa far behind. She is well along the Southern Ocean and could be reaching home not too long away. As she had started from Sydney, she would be returning home back to Sydney and has already covered 18,000 nautical miles. At 16, Jessica is already a veteran and no stranger to danger on the seas. The race between Jessica and Abby for the title will be interesting to watch.
